With the IXXAT Econ 100 an extremely flexible master solution for DIN rail mounting is available at a compelling price. Different protocol stacks are available for the IXXAT Econ 100 and can be delivered pre-installed on the device: EtherCAT Master, POWERLINK MN, CANopen master.
During the development of the IXXAT Econ 100 special attention was paid to the requirements of the various fields of application. Thus, the unit has, despite of its fan-less design, an extended temperature range from -40 ° C to + 70 ° C and enough power and interfaces to become the optimal solution for various applications.
The basic version of the device has two Ethernet interfaces (1 x 1000 Mbit, 1 x 100 Mbit), two CAN interfaces and two USB ports. Two additional Ethernet interfaces with up to 100 Mbps as well as customer-specific interfaces or extensions (e.g. digital and analogue I/Os, DVI output, Anybus CompactCom modules for additional fieldbuses) can easily and quickly be added via expansion slots and by using the implemented FPGA. IXXAT Econ 100 uses a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU. The internal RAM has a standard size of 256 MB and can be extended up to 1 GB. Operating system and programs are stored on flash memory on a SD card.
The IXXAT Econ 100 provides a remarkably high degree of flexibility using a unique combination of interfaces, FPGA, software and services. This makes the IXXAT Econ 100 an ideal platform for application-optimized and customer-specific solutions. For this purpose IXXAT offers a comprehensive Linux board support package enabling the quick and easy implementation of custom software solutions on the IXXAT Econ 100 (e.g. gateways).
By combining ADKs for different protocols it is also possible to setup easily and fast combined, high-performance control solutions for heterogeneous systems with EtherCAT and CANopen for example.
Besides the version within the robust metal housing, IXXAT offers the Econ 100 also as board-level product for space-saving integration into already existing customer applications. On request, IXXAT offers adaptations and application implementations for a fast and economy-priced solution.
For the EtherCAT master functionality the proven EtherCAT Master Class B protocol software from acontis is used. The specially optimized link layer enables the IXXAT Econ 100 to operate with cycle times of less than 1 ms.
The selected EtherCAT master implementation, the included interface drivers and the pre-installed Linux operating system enable rapid implementation of customized EtherCAT application as well as the rapid adaptation of existing applications to the compact and powerful IXXAT Econ 100.
The IXXAT Econ 100 is also a perfect solution for the connection of several EtherCAT networks, e.g. enabling the operation as EtherCAT master in one system and at the same time as EtherCAT slave in another network.
For the integration into CANopen networks IXXAT offers a customized multi-channel variant of the proven IXXAT CANopen master/slave software. This allows the rapid implementation of controllers for CANopen networks, as well as the use of IXXAT Econ 100 as gateway or measurement node.
The optionally available IXXAT CANopen Manager software provides a comprehensive range of functions including Configuration Manager and support of the network start-up procedure as specified by the CiA (CAN in Automation).
The CANopen Manager software is highly suitable for the implementation of local CANopen network controllers within machines or systems as well as for the integration with IEC61131-3 run-time environments.
Based on the IXXAT EPL software the IXXAT Econ 100 supports all features of an EPL Managing Node (MN) and Controller Node (CN) and supports the standards EPSG DS 301 V 1.1.0 and EPSG WDP 302- AV 1.0.4.
The dynamic object directory of the MN/CN implementation allows easy integration of existing user objects, but also the modification of objects/parameters at runtime. Here, the extensive configuration and scaling capabilities of the software allow the use of up to 240 CNs and a flexible number and size of the PDO.
Due to the resource-saving implementation of the protocol software, the use of FPGAs for a Z-Port Hub and the optimized use of the dual-core CPU, the IXXAT Econ 100 reaches cycle times of 200 µs.
For applications with the requirement for high availability additional functions can be implemented within the FPGA logic of the IXXAT Econ 100, like redundant managing nodes, dual Ethernet cable redundancy or Ethernet ring redundancy according to DSP 302-A. All this can be done without an additional CPU load.
